Osisi & Co. LLC is a genealogy research practice based in Maryland, United States. These terms cover your use of osisiandco.com and anything you buy from it. By using the site or buying from it, you agree to them.
WHO CAN BUY
You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live.
WHAT I SELL
Three things. Digital books and guides, delivered as files. Genealogy research, family tree audits and written family histories, carried out for clients. Teaching and speaking engagements. Current services and prices are on the Work With Me page.
DIGITAL BOOKS AND DOWNLOADS
When you buy a digital book you are buying a licence to read it, not ownership of the work. You may keep it, read it, and print a copy for your own use. You may not resell it, share the file, upload it anywhere, or reproduce any part of it without my written permission.
Refunds for digital products are covered by the Refund Policy.
RESEARCH AND WRITING ENGAGEMENTS
Every engagement begins with a Discovery / Fit Call and is confirmed in writing before work begins. The written agreement names the lines to be researched, the hours included and the fee.
What I promise is method, not outcome. I search the records that survive, I tell you what I searched, I grade every conclusion from A to F, and I deliver what I did not find alongside what I did. I cannot promise that a particular ancestor, document or connection exists or can be found. Records burn, and for Black American families the documented federal record generally stops at the 1870 census.
If the work is going to exceed the hours we agreed, I come to you before spending them.
I do not take on legal, governmental or official matters. My work is not prepared for, and must not be relied upon for, tribal enrollment applications, citizenship or immigration claims, estate or inheritance claims, or any court or government proceeding.
No living person is researched without explicit consent.
WHAT YOU SEND ME
You may send me documents, photographs, DNA results and family information. By sending them you confirm that you have the right to share them, and that you permit me to use them for your engagement. I keep your family's information private. I do not sell it and I do not publish it. If I would like to use something from your project as an example in a talk or an article, I will ask you first.
WHO OWNS THE RESEARCH
The findings about your family are yours. The report itself, its writing and its design, remain my work, and you have a licence to use, copy and share it freely within your family. Please ask before publishing it commercially or selling it.
PRICES
Prices may change. Anyone already quoted at a previous rate keeps that price. All prices are in US dollars.
LIABILITY
I do not guarantee that this website will be uninterrupted or free of errors. To the fullest extent permitted by law, my liability for any claim relating to the site, a product or an engagement is limited to the amount you paid for it.
GOVERNING LAW
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maryland, United States.
CHANGES
I may update these terms. The date at the top tells you when they last changed.
